For the past seven years, The Tree has been involved in various ways of helping the homeless in the downtown area of Springfield. As a result of this experience and in an attempt to focus on a few specific challenges that are not addressed by other entities The Tree reopened February 1, 2016 at the Vineyard Church building.
The Tree has identified the following needs:
1. A safe place available between 5:00 PM & 8:00 PM every day.
2. Restroom facilities.
3. A friendly place where meaningful relationships can be developed.
4. Access to computers and the internet.
5. A place where Good Samaritans can share the love of Christ.
To accomplish these goals, The Tree has established, in a building near downtown, a "Coffee Shop/Library" type of atmosphere that is warm, friendly and upscale. Individuals are treated with dignity and respect that every human being deserves without regard to race, creed, color, gender, criminal justice status, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, age or physical handicap.
The Tree needs individuals and groups that will provide funding pledges for the basic monthly expenses. With this committed base support, along with sporadic additional generous donations throughout the year, all operational expenses can be covered.
Hours of operation:
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
